Less than 12 hours after walking across the stage and receiving my college diploma, my sister, brother, and I boarded a plane to Hartford, CT, for the premiere weekend of Anastasia the Musical before heading to New York City for 48 hours. This was my fourth time to the Big Apple and after being there in August this past summer to visit my best friend, I was excited to not only go back to engage in some classics, but also try several new spots I had been itching to go to. I’m sharing my 6 new experiences in NYC that I had with my brother and sister over the course of 48 hours:
Norma’s: Located inside the Parker Meridien Hotel, Norma’s possesses the most gluttonous brunch items I have ever laid eyes on and I fully support everything about it. With clever titles and even better tasting items, Norma’s is a bit pricey, but will provide you with enough food to fuel an army. I’m still dreaming about those nutella filled pancakes…
American Museum of Natural History: This museum had been on my sister’s list for some time now, and while I can’t say I am the biggest fan of history or science, this museum offers so much it is crazy! I enjoyed the dinosaur (cue Night at the Museum scenes running through my head the whole time) and space exhibits the most, and wish we had had more time to explore a few others, as this museum is ginormous.
Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer: Hello, gorgeous. If you keep up with me on Instagram, then I am sure you noticed these beauties on there. These over-the-top (to say the least) milkshakes will send you into the greatest sugar coma you’ll ever enter, so I recommend you order a side of the incredible Black Tap fries to balance out the sweetness (hah, as if).
Brooklyn Bridge: I’d always wanted to go over to Brooklyn and then mosey across the bridge into Manhattan; lo and behold, fourth time was the charm! The weather was glorious and as always, people watching was prime. Make sure to bring your selfie stick to fit in 😉
The Bagel Store: While it is common knowledge that bagels are just ugly donuts (hehe), if I were to be a bagel, I would be the rainbow bagel with the funfetti cream cheese from the Bagel Store. The rainbow bagel itself is plain, but the cream cheese tastes like a glorious combination of cotton candy, icing, birthday cake and happiness. 10/10 would recommend.
Top of the Rock: My family went to the top of the Empire State Building when we came some time ago, but I loved the top of the Rockefeller Center because you have a stunning view of the city, which includes the iconic Empire State Building!
We crammed as much as we could into the time that we had, including some other notable mentions like dinner with good friends who live in the city at Beauty & Essex, walking the High Line, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I adore the energy of the city and the opportunity to try so many new activities and places every time I go!
